The State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Uzgen" was established by Resolution No. 151 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic dated March 22, 2022. The staff consists of 19 positions. The museum-reserve includes significant archaeological and architectural monuments located in the city of Uzgen.
According to the initial resolution, it was envisaged to transfer to the balance of the museum-reserve the land plots containing the archaeological monuments of Uzgen — including a 3.5-hectare protected zone, three mausoleums, a minaret, and three shahristans — for the purpose of their preservation, restoration, and museification.
By Resolution No. 709 dated October 30, 2025, relevant amendments and clarifications were introduced. According to the updated decision, the following objects are to be transferred to the balance of the museum-reserve:

The monuments located within the museum-reserve represent valuable heritage reflecting the architectural, cultural, and political development of the city of Uzgen during the Middle Ages. They demonstrate the high level of urban culture in the Fergana Valley and occupy a special place in the history of the region.

The State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Uzgen" operates in accordance with the laws and regulatory legal acts of the Kyrgyz Republic.
A legal entity with an independent balance, official seal, and letterhead. Its founder is the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
A special protection regime has been established within the territory of the museum-reserve to safeguard historical, cultural, and natural heritage. Any activities that may cause damage to heritage sites are prohibited.
